‘‘MIGRANT’’: SHARING TWO CULTURES,
A PLUS THAT MAKES PROUD OF IT”?
CHANGING THE OUTLOOK ON THE MIGRANT AND THE OUTLOOK OF THE MIGRANT ON ITSELF
The preparation of this International Day takes into account the New Directives of UNESCO on the collective cooperation with the community of NGOs official partners of the Organization.
The aim of this celebration is double: on the one hand, putting into light the “invisible face” of the migratory streams, not very often shown; on the other hand, according to the Agenda Post 2015, going on to put this fact into light, with an educational basic information, i.e. “educating to migrants”, that allow to better know them as human beings living a “daily life”, and not only as movements, numbers, percentages and so on, what is not our issue. Our vision does wish to be concrete, prospective and positive.
In the framework of the visibility of the cultural diversity, the Preparatory Group decided that the Day will be celebrated all around the world, associating in the presentation the other regions around the region where UNESCO is located, and presenting testimonies that show that the migrant must not be isolated when he/she has to begin a new (wished or not) moment in his/her life, and that everywhere in the world, NGOs, feeling concerned, set up to implement an efficient solidarity, most often thanks to partnerships for a better impact.
THE GROUP CONSIDERS AS ITS DUTY TO SHOW THIS AND TO MAKE IT KNOWN
